PANONIAN SAILOR

PANONIAN SAILOR

Erm..where should I start with this one. It’s taken from the bridge connecting Novi Sad and Petrovaradin, just under the old Petrovaradin Fortress.

Panonia is the name of a large plain Novi Sad lays in. The plain stretches through out Serbia, Croatia, Hungary and Romania. Once upon a time there used to be Panonian Sea where the plain is now.

Looking at this photo, or just seeing it live when, on rare occasions, crossing the bridge, reminds me of tough times we live in. Just like Panonian Sea, many vocations vanished with dying industries. Shipbuilding was one one them.
Now, all we can see are partial images, scenes from the past, memories that are faiding away, scattered remains of what used to be our proud and joy..or someone’s life.

Will we just fade away? Does it bother you? Are you afraid if it?

A lot of things to think about. This image is very interesting. I love that the focal point is partially out of view, tying in with what I think you are trying to say. Saying that though, the composition still feels wonderfully balanced. The water goes on for “ever” pulling the viewers attention back to the right side of the composition. Beautifully planed.

I really love the color and composition of this picture. Did you do any post-processing to achieve that color? Also I’m not sure if I already mentioned this or not but I really enjoy the text that comes with all your pictures … always very thought provoking and like my photographer friend would say “pictures should always have content or purpose”.
Anyway I was thinking about your text today … things do fade but I see it in a different way. I see it as change instead of fading. Fading to me always denote something negative but change … well it can be for better or worse but I guess for your instance it is negative. But like all things good times come and go so do bad time … they fade in and out … hopefully when everything is said and done we will have experience more good times than bad ones :)

Very strong composition, and quite brave. That boat looks like a wonderful subject.
